How Guardians Work with Fire

What if we told you that having Guardians trained in fire could help reduce the risks of fire in communities and create a more holistic approach to wildfire management across the country?

Meet Guardians from two communities where that’s not just an idea, it’s already underway. From the grasslands of the Blood Tribe to the northern forests in Tulita, NWT, Guardians are getting trained in emergency and wildfire response, post-fire recovery, and cultural fire techniques. This approach combines Indigenous fire knowledge with Western science, resulting in year-round stewardship and reduced fuel reduction, and better outcomes for communities that need the ability to respond in real time.

Watch this video to learn on how Fire Guardians are one of THE best solutions we have to the ever-increasing threats of wildfires across the country.
