Analysis of Current and Future Value of Indigenous Guardians Work in Canada’s Northwest Territories:

Social Ventures Australia Consulting has done extensive research of Australia’s highly successful Indigenous stewardship program. In 2016, researchers from the firm traveled to the Northwest Territories in Canada to assess two Indigenous Guardians programs: the Lutsel K’e NiHat’ni Dene and the Dehcho K’ehodi.

The analysis found that for each $1 invested generates $2.50 in social, cultural, economic and environmental value. With consistent, long-term funding, the value of the benefits would increase up to $3.70 for each dollar of investment.
